Florida Offshore Fishing Charters

Blue Water Ocean and Deep sea Fishing Captains

Friday April 28, 2017

Deep indigo blue waters of Florida's Atlantic Ocean hold some of the world's finest sports-fishing in the USA. Ê Anglers and visitors are treated to many of southeast best fishing species including king mackerel, mahi mahi, snapper, grouper, cobia and sharks. Ê "It's truly a fisherman's paradise" explains Captain Richard Bradley of Lagooner Fishing Charters. "I've lived here my whole life and have charter fished for two decades off Port Canaveral and the east coast and there's no place as consistent and fun for catching big fish Florida's Deep Sea and Offshore fishing.

During the summer and warmer months the opportunities increase for great weather and plenty of fishing action off Florida's east coast. Colder months often bring northeast winds and waves combined with cooler conditions making it difficult for anglers to tolerate the elements and get a bite, but warmer months are often mild and productive and prove again and again to be the angler's delight while visiting the Sunshine State.

Offshore Fish Species and Opportunities

Anglers can expect to catch one or more species of offshore fish during our summer months. King mackerel is one of our most consistent fisheries and cobia is a local favorite. Look Mahi to run in the early summer or spring and jacks, barracuda and other fish to be available when it's warm and calm. Tarpon can be an exciting morning of fishing, but can make a long extended hour long fight for one angler while the others wait and watch.

Overall the fish species in Florida can be read about on our reference page along with many of our offshore, big game and sports-fish in the Atlantic Ocean, but don't forget that we also have great fishing in our near-shore and inshore waters that will satisfy almost any angler's fishing appetite.

Fishing Forecast

April - 2017 Fishing Forecast

April of 2017 should be a great spring for fishing in both inshore and offshore coastal waters of Central Florida. Look to the Mosquito Lagoon and Banana Rivers to produce redfish and sea trout consistently and then look toward the ocean and depending on the water temps, clear skies and wind the cobia will be on their way north and migrating past Canaveral towards their northern grounds on the mid-Atlantic seaboard. Central Florida's weather during the spring is usually no less than spectacular as the college spring breakers are winding up the end of their vacation and heading back to campus to finish up before summer break. Daytona Beach host several spring events from NASCAR Races, Bike Week and Spring Break activities while Cocoa Beach and it's Space Coast offer a much less crowded alternative for vacationers to seek a more secluded and restful Holiday. The temperatures are rising and the fishing should be heating up too in East Central Florida's Cocoa Beach.

Inshore Charter Fishing in the Banana River Lagoon near Cocoa Beach, Florida. Catch redfish, sea trout, tarpon, snook and many other saltwater gamefish aboard the world famous Lagooner flats fishing boat with renowned Captain Richard Bradley.

A very knowledgeable guide and knows the area waters well. We were on big reds and trout within minutes of the leaving the dock and ventured about the lagoon to catch different species. The scenery in the Lagoon is remarkable! Richard’s boat was well equipped with good equipment, he was well prepared to adapt to the different types of fishing through out the day. My primary focus was sight fishing for big reds on fly - the flies that Capt. Richard provided were right on! Booking the charter was a breeze, his wife Capt. Gina was very accommodating to work me in (thank you Capt. Gina). Capt. Richard seemed to know who was hungry at the right times – and we had some impressive catches! Well done Capt. Richard, and thanks for a great day on the water!
