Guided Fishing Trips and Vacations in The Sunshine State
Thursday September 21, 2017
Whether you're visiting Florida for the first time or traveling the Sunshine State regularly it's time to treat yourself to one of Florida's finest activities and see what all the hoopla's about in the Florida Sportsman magazine and all the fishing shows you see on TV. Florida has it all for the vacationer from it's theme parks, it's natural inland beauty to it's pristine clear waters in the inshore lagoons. Ocean fishing on a calm summer afternoon and soaking up some extra sun before heading back home to show your tan and the photographs of an awesome fishing adventure on Florida's Atlantic Ocean or Indian River Lagoon.
Saltwater Inshore Lagoon Fishing
During the cooler months of October thru May anglers can expect to have some world class sea trout and red fishing in the Indian River and Mosquito Lagoons near Kennedy Space Center. A wonderful diversion for the traveling business person is a quiet day of watching wildlife while pulling in some of Florida's gamefish. East of Orlando and north of Miami and the crowded south Florida is the sleepy cottage community of Cocoa Beach and Merritt Island where the Banana River and Indian River Lagoons meet at Dragon Point and flow from Sebastian Inlet and north to New Smyrna and Ponce Inlet.
Inshore fishing is accomplished in our shallow water lagoons with specialized boats called "Flats Boats" which are named for their ability to traverse the very shallow or skinny water lagoons and stalk the fish that are typically holding in less than three feet of water on the beautiful grass beds. Anglers will use light tackle to pursue on a combination of artificial and live baits. Many people enjoy the calmer inshore fishing during the winter than the rough cold winter water offshore.
Offshore Big Game and Ocean Fishing
Warm summer months produce some mighty fine fishing off Florida's east coast for anglers wanting to expand their fishing adventure to an offshore trip for larger big game like tarpon, cobia, mackerel and mahi-mahi. We're not known for our billfish, but we do have an occasional sailfish light up in the prop wash when fishing the deeper waters of the Atlantic Ocean.
Larger vessels are typically used for offshore ocean fishing and our fishing guides use 24 foot coastal boats with towers and ample cooler space for anglers wanting to keep their limit in saltwater game fish. If the ocean is unfishable due to high winds and seas we often switch our crew to inshore waters where anglers can enjoy saltwater fishing on lighter tackle and remain safe and comfortable. Look for great summertime fishing in Florida during the warmer months and check out what's biting with our fishing report below.

Lagooner Fishing Guides Review / Facebook
Inshore and Offshore Charter Fishing near Orlando and Cocoa Beach, Florida. Catch redfish, sea trout, tarpon, snook and many other saltwater gamefish aboard the world famous Lagooner flats fishing boat with renowned Captain Richard Bradley.
A very knowledgeable guide and knows the area waters well. We were on big reds and trout within minutes of the leaving the dock and ventured about the lagoon to catch different species. The scenery in the Lagoon is remarkable!
Richard’s boat was well equipped with good equipment, he was well prepared to adapt to the different types of fishing through out the day. My primary focus was sight fishing for big reds on fly - the flies that Capt. Richard provided were right on!
Booking the charter was a breeze, his wife Capt. Gina was very accommodating to work me in (thank you Capt. Gina).
Capt. Richard seemed to know who was hungry at the right times – and we had some impressive catches! Well done Capt. Richard, and thanks for a great day on the water!
